If you are considering buying drinking glasses from us, please note that, although we have a stock at our studio, we make most of our glass to order. The photographs in our Gallery are illustrations of glass that we have made. These can be ordered, but we can also make many other styles. For instance, bowls and stems can be specified, so that, for example, a particular bowl type and size can be combined with an air twist or an opaque or colour twist stem, with the twists being one of a variety of patterns. Similarly, we can reproduce many of the baluster stem glasses, using a variety of combinations of knop (a swelling in the the stem) shapes. If you have any of the standard reference books for glass of this period, they can be referred to when deciding on a design. See this page for our booklist. Glasses of this period often have smaller bowl capacities than modern drinking glasses. Also, it is not absolutely known which type of glass was used for each drink – if there were distinctions. We have indicated approximate bowl capacities for glasses in the Gallery, and this is echoed in the price list. Many people have asked for red and white wine sizes, and we offer choices for these. We will quote prices for any glasses that you are interested in. Note that all prices are per vessel, with no discount for quantity. Postage and packaging will be added. We are not VAT registered. We will also reproduce individual bottle seals, as well as make new designs to order. Note that we will only make bottles for one period a year, usually in June or July, so it is important that you order bottles in good time – particularly if you want a seal made to your design. |
